One PDF · up to 50 MiB · processed locally

Original teaching fixture with two text pages and a diagram.
Processing and limits

Parser and OCR resources download from this site. Document contents, filenames and passwords are not uploaded. Selected pages are processed in order; OCR needs review. Packages are limited to 64 MiB expanded. Download your result before closing this tab.

Preserved originals and conversion limits

The original PDF stays byte-for-byte intact. Rendered pages preserve visual context; extracted text is a separate transcription. Complex tables, mathematical notation, handwriting and dynamic forms are not guaranteed to become structured text. A PDF drawing does not become editable Pencil ink.

Extract text without rebuilding the document

Choose one PDF up to 50 MiB and select up to 200 pages. Selectable text is extracted first; scanned pages use local OCR. The result is plain text with original page numbers, ready for correction and TXT download.

Check reading order before reusing the words

Columns, tables, equations and handwriting may be read incorrectly. Compare each page preview with the text. Generated page labels help locate the source; they do not reconstruct the original headings or table cells.

TXT or Markdown: choose the output you need

TXT is useful for copying words into an editor or an existing note. It contains no images or source attachments. Choose PDF to Markdown when you need page images, the unchanged PDF and a portable source-linked package. Neither conversion silently invokes a generative model.

Three steps to your result

  1. Choose your PDF

Choose your PDF or open the sample. Select its pages and the OCR language when needed.

  2. Review the text

Extract the text. Compare source pages, correct mistakes and keep useful page labels.

  3. Download TXT

Download the edited TXT. Keep the original PDF separately, or choose the Markdown tool for a package with original pages.

Before you save

Can I extract text from a scanned PDF?

Yes. Scanned pages use browser OCR. English, German, French, Italian and Spanish are available. Language resources download from this site; OCR text needs review.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No document contents or passwords are uploaded for processing. PDF parsing and recognition run in this tab. The page, parser and OCR resources still require initial network downloads.

Does the TXT include images or formatting?

No. The TXT contains the editable transcription and page labels. Images, links to source files and original document formatting are not included. Use PDF to Markdown for a package with page images and the original PDF.

What happens with protected or damaged PDFs?

A password-protected PDF needs its password in this tab. Passwords are held in memory and cleared after opening or reset. Damaged documents and dynamic forms may fail; try a smaller page selection or inspect the original.
